Harter Secrest & Emery Adds Four New Associates

The law firm of Harter Secrest & Emery LLP is pleased to announce that Alexandra E. Lugo, Michael J. Rooney, Sara F. Pupparo, and Glenn R. Schieck have been admitted to the New York State Bar, and are now associate attorneys at Harter Secrest & Emery LLP.

Alexandra E. Lugo has joined the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice group as an associate attorney in the Rochester office. Her practice focuses on issues relating to pension and welfare benefit plan compliance and administration for both for-profit and tax-exempt organizations. Her experience includes preparing and submitting applications to the IRS for determination of qualified plan status, preparing plan documents and other benefit communications for qualified plans and welfare plans, analyzing multiemployer plan regulatory issues and advising on welfare plan compliance issues, including HIPAA, COBRA, and the implementation of health care reform.

Ms. Lugo received her J.D., magna cum laude, from the SUNY Buffalo Law School, and her B.A. in Psychology/Public Health, magna cum laude, from SUNY Fredonia. Alexandra resides in Rochester, NY.

Michael J. Rooney has joined the firm’s Litigation practice group as an associate attorney in the Rochester office. His practice concentrates in a wide range of civil litigation matters, including general business and commercial litigation. Mr. Rooney’s experience includes researching and drafting various documents to assist in advising individuals, businesses, local municipalities, high schools, and colleges on both federal and state legal issues.

Mr. Rooney received his J.D., cum laude, from SUNY Buffalo Law School, and his B.A. in American Studies, cum laude from St. John Fisher College. Michael resides in Rochester, NY.

Sara F. Pupparo has joined the firm’s Real Estate practice group as an associate attorney in the Rochester office. Her practices focuses on representing clients in residential and commercial real estate matters, including drafting and review of real estate purchase and sale agreements, easements, leases and other agreements relating to real property and real property transactions, as well as performing due diligence reviews and drafting documents in connection with commercial financing and lending transactions secured by real property.

Sara received her J.D., cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law, and her B.S. from Pennsylvania State University, Smeal College of Business. Sara resides in Rochester, NY.

Glenn R. Schieck has joined the firm’s Immigration practice group as an associate attorney in the Rochester office. Glenn focuses his practice on assisting companies, universities, and health care institutions seeking immigrant and nonimmigrant status on behalf of individuals in diverse fields and specialties.

Prior to law school, Glenn held a variety of roles in the field of Human Resources in both the financial services and software development industries.

Mr. Schieck received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, and his B.S. in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University. Glenn and his wife reside in Rochester, NY.
